Catholic Leaders Retreat
Last week I joined the Archdiocesan Principals at a Conference and Retreat in the Southern Highlands. Through attending this I gained many insights into my new role and the networks I am creating are assisting me to feel supported and encouraged. The highlight of the Retreat was meeting and listening to Father Timothy Radcliffe OP.
Fr Timothy is a distinguished figure within the Catholic Church, acclaimed for his profound contributions as both an English Catholic priest and a Dominican friar. Most recently he was chosen by Pope Francis to lead the pre-Synod Retreat and provide regular reflections for members during the Synod. His reflections and thought challenges prompted me to reflect on my relationships and experiences as a teacher and leader. One concept that struck me was our relationships and interactions with each other. Howe often do we take the time to truly listen to another's perspective. Imagine what we could learn if we would only take the time to truly connect adn to aim to understand rather than purely respond or react.
“Conversation needs an imaginative leap into the experience of the other person,” explained Radcliffe. “To see with their eyes, and hear with their ears. We need to get inside their skin. From what experiences do their words spring? What pain or hope do they carry? What journey are they on?”
This conversation leads to understanding, respect and love.

Project Compassion Mufti Day Friday 15 March
Our SRC has organised a mufti day on Friday 15th March to continue to raise funds for our Project Compassion program. All funds raised will go to Project Compassion to assist those who are less fortunate, to access clean drinking water, education and services.
Tomorrow, classes will wear colours that are found on the flag of their country of focus. For example, Kinder can wear red, blue, white and yellow clothes as their focus country is the Philippines. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation for wearing mufti. Please see the colours for each class below:
K/1/2: PHILIPPINES
CLOTHES: RED, BLUE, WHITE, YELLOW
3/4: SAMOA
BLUE, RED, WHITE
5/6: MALAWI
BLACK, RED, GREEN
Project Compassion Tally
To date, we have raised a grand total of $333.80. We are so proud of our school community. If everyone was to bring $2 on Friday, that will see us go beyond the $500 mark!
St Patrick’s Day –Friday March 17
Sunday is St Patrick’s feast day. He is the patron saint of Ireland and one of the world's most popular saints. He taught people about the Trinity (three persons of God) using a shamrock (3 leaf clover). He is an important saint in Crookwell as many ancestors are of Irish descent. It would be great to see many of our school community at mass on Sunday to celebrate St Patrick.
The Prayer of St. Patrick
I arise today,
Through God's strength to pilot me;
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's hosts to save.
Afar and a near…Alone or in a multitude…
Christ shield me today, against wounding.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through the mighty strength
Of the Lord of creation.

Canberra Goulburn U11’s and U13’s Rugby League Trials
Well done to Eli, Bodi, Chase, Rory and Harry F who attended the CG Rugby League trials on Tuesday. The boys trialled in very hot conditions, giving their very best efforts.
A big congratulations to Chase who was selected into the U11’s Canberra Goulburn team. The team will now represent Canberra Goulburn at the MacKillop Trials in Canberra on the 10th of May.
Girls Canberra Goulburn Netball Championships and Trials
On Tuesday, 6 girls from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Canberra to trial for the Canberra-Goulburn netball team. The girls were split into 4 teams who played in a round-robin tournament in various positions. Faith, Olivia and Grace all shone in shooting positions with a number of goals on the day. Elsie and Gabby had their work cut out in defence with some very tall opposition but held their own with some great intercepts. Anna may have been the smallest on the court, but she certainly didn't let that deter her with her speed and ability to lose her opposing player. Despite only starting netball 12 months ago, all 6 girls played with skill and confidence and enjoyed every minute.
