NSW Hockey - Tommy Picker
Congratulating Year Six student, Tommy Picker on an exceptional week he had as an integral member of the NSW U12 Boys Hockey Team. Tommy and his team were rewarded as joint Gold Medalists with Qld. I received an email from Tommy's coach that I would like to share with our school community. You make us proud, Tommy, but even more than that, you should be so proud of who you are.
Dear Mrs Croker,
I am writing to extend my heartfelt congratulations and sincere thanks to your school for the outstanding contribution of your student, Tommy Picker, in the recent School Sport Australia Hockey Championships held in Bendigo, Victoria.
Tommy was an integral member of our NSW team and represented us with great pride and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Performing the role of goalkeeper to an exceptional standard, his dedication, skill, and consistent effort were invaluable and played a significant role in our team’s remarkable achievement of winning the gold medal.
Tommy’s commitment and performance demonstrated not only exceptional athletic ability but also the positive values and spirit that are central to school sport. He was truly an asset to our team, and we are proud to have had him represent us at this prestigious event.
Yours sincerely,
Adam Gill

CWA
Last Wednesday, I was invited to attend a CWA Day Branch meeting. At this meeting, President Susan Reynolds, presented me with a donation to assist with excursion costs for our students.
"Crookwell CWA Branch made a commitment to support local students and their families, in our modest way, to participate in excursions to encourage inclusiveness and to benefit from these activities that enrich their learning experience"
I extended my thanks and appreciation for their ongoing support and care for our local community, and in particular, our St Mary's students and families.
Veolia Mulwaree
St Mary's school recently heard that they had been successful in obtaining a grant from the Veolia Mulwaree Trust. It was lovely to be present at the presentation and receive our 'giant cheque'.

School Photography Date: 22/10/2025
School photography day is coming up soon. Group and portrait photographs can be purchased by following the link below or by returning the order envelope with your payment (these haven't been received at school yet) to our photographer on school photo day.
Two easy ways to purchase:
- Visa, MasterCard or PayPal
- Cash – complete the envelope supplied and return it to our photographer on photo day
Or visit: www.advancedlife.com.au
And enter online order code: AN3 WE9 3JZ
School photography information:
- Online orders - do not require an envelope returned to your school
- Sibling Photos - Don’t forget to pre-order your sibling photos online up to 24 hours before photo day. We provide your school with a list of sibling orders right up to the day of photography, so no one misses out. If you miss the online order deadline, you can submit a completed sibling order envelope first thing in the morning of the day of photography, so your school is aware you want the photo taken and can bring your children together in time for it. Sibling photographs only apply to children enrolled at your school.
- Late fees - a late fee will be applied to each package purchased after photo day due to the additional cost of producing these packages separately
- Package delivery - School photographs will be returned approximately 6 weeks after the day of photography. Please note this delivery timeframe is dependent on proofing and additional photography days at your school.
- Previous Years’ photos - Past years’ photographs including sports, co-curricular and representative groups are also available to order under the “previous years or group photo” tabs at your school’s advancedorder site when you click on the “Order School Photos Here” button above. You can also order past packages, portrait images and gifts from your child’s unique, individual and secure advancedyou image archive site using the unique 9 digit image code found on packages you have ordered in the past
Do Not Photograph/Publish
If you have selected in your child's enrolment form that they must not be photographed or their photo published, these students will not be presented for traditional group photographs with their Class Or Year, nor can a separate group photo only featuring their child be taken. A portrait of the student will be taken for school records only, and a portrait package will be available for purchase by the parent, but that portrait will appear only in that student’s package and will not appear in other students’ packages, nor will the student appear in any group or composite presentations of their Class or Year.
Please contact Belinda urgently if you have any questions or concerns regarding this.

OUR MOTHER MARY’S BIRTHDAY- ST MARY’S SCHOOL FEAST DAY
Tomorrow we celebrate the Church feast of the birthday of the mother of God, Mary. Mary was the very first saint – the first follower of Jesus - from the moment she said “YES” to God’s request to become his mother on earth. As Jesus was dying on the cross, he made it clear that Mary is also our mother. The Bible records his last words to Mary: “When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.” John 19:26–27. Jesus established that Mary is the heavenly mother of all of humanity to whom we can turn for help. How blessed our school is to be named St Mary’s.
On this special feast day, we give thanks for Mary (the patroness of our school and Parish).
We are all called to become saints, and so we ask Mary to pray for us that we may follow her example in better devoting our lives to God.
From MARY we learn to be…
HUMBLE – to listen to God and to surrender to God’s will and say “Yes”.
COURAGEOUS – when faced with tough times and decisions
TRUSTING - when all hope seems gone that God is with us and loves us
COMPASSIONATE - to go out of ourselves and reach out to others just as she did with Elizabeth
FAITHFUL - to love Jesus her Son and have faith that we are unconditionally loved and cherished
Our special Feast Day will begin with Mass at 9:30am. All are welcome to attend. Following Mass, the children will join together in stage groups to participate in a number of special activities to celebrate and honour Mary.
The children are asked to wear BLUE clothing.

Professional learning for parents & teachers
Some of the best Professional learning I have completed is offered by OLT Australia. To support our students & their families, I have completed courses with OLT in Understanding Autism, Understanding ADHD, Dyslexia & Significant Reading Difficulties, Dyspraxia & Motor Coordination Difficulties, Speech, Language & Communication Needs, Attachment & Trauma Theory, Understanding & Supporting Behaviour, Mental Health and Student Wellbeing and Understanding Hearing Loss.
I am also a tutor for these courses, and so many of the staff at St Mary’s have also completed a number of the professional learning courses to further develop skills in identifying, planning & preparing resources for students in their care.
This organisation also offers free parent courses & access to free resources on Autism & ADHD. You simply register & then work through the course at your own pace.
A big thank you to everyone who kindly sent in the milk bottle lids- we were inundated, which was fantastic.
As such, we now have enough for our supplies.
Thanks again!

Our tuckshop coordinators have recently undertaken a review of the tuckshop menu. This has not been done for a number of years and has resulted in some updates.

Please note the following price increases:
- Chicken Burger $3.50
- Frozen Yoghurt $1.50
- Party Pies $1.50
- Large Pies $3.50
- Sausage Rolls $3.00
Thank you for your support of these changes and of the volunteers.

SUCCESS FOR HARRY AND CAMAC
Last week I received an email about the astonishing accomplishment two of our Year Two students had achieved. We love to share these amazing stories.
We wanted to take a moment to share some very exciting news about our Harry, and his achievements at the Southern All Breeds Handlers Camp in Harden over the weekend.
At the handlers camp, Harry won Champion Pee Wee Judge and then went on to win joint Grand Champion Judge with the Novice Division Champion. There were approx. 150 competitors ranging in age from 5 to 60 years old at this years show. He also won Champion Pee Wee Parader and was part of the team that placed 1st in the fitting competition, where teams of 5 prepared a heifer for the show ring.
For an 8 year old, these results are truly remarkable. During my 27 years of showing cattle, I have never seen a Pee Wee win the title of Grand Champion Judge. We are so proud of Harry.
A special mention goes to Camac Wilson, who also attended the Handlers Camp. Camac won 1st place in his Pee Wee Paraders heat and was 3rd in the Pee Wee Herdsman competition.
We are grateful to St Mary's for the encouragement and support that helps give children like Harry & Camac, the confidence to try new opportunities and achieve their best.
RDA - Mounted Games
Year Three students, Khloe and Adrian recently competed at the 2025 RDA (NSW) State Mounted Games Championships. Both students have been attending the Centre this year and have fallen in love with their horses and horse riding. Khloe was awarded Reserve Champion Led Jnr at the event. CONGRATULATIONS to both of them.
