Term Three Wrap-Up
As this will be the final Newsletter for Term Three I would like to take the opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude to all who make our school community one to be proud of. This Term has been jam-packed with extracurricular activities, visitors, fundraising, representative opportunities; academically and sporting, and lots of dedicated learning.
I am especially grateful to our P& F working party who held a successful Wood Raffle last week raising valuable funds for our school. My thanks to all involved especially the Strode and McCormack families.
Please keep the Romer and Hewitt families in your prayers as we will in ours.
I hope you take the time during the holidays to refresh and recharge for the always busy final Term of the year.
Kindergarten /Year One Showcase
Please join us for our Term Three Showcase next Friday at 12:30pm. Year One and Kindergarten have been busily rehearsing and fine-tuning their performances and can't wait to share them with you.
St Mary's Feast Day
On Friday, September 6th, we celebrated our school's feast day with great joy and enthusiasm. The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a special occasion that holds significant meaning in the Catholic faith, and to us at St Mary's Primary School, and our students made sure to honour it in a memorable way.
Our celebration began with a beautiful Mass with Father Xavier guiding us to reflect on the virtues of Mary.
Following the Mass, our students engaged in various Mary-themed fun activities. The students decorated biscuits with images and symbols associated with Mary, made Rosary bracelets, did some mindful Mary colouring and bookmarks and incorporated AFL Coaching as part of the celebrations !!
As we celebrated the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our students learned about the virtues and qualities that Mary exemplified – kindness, humility, compassion, and faith. These values serve as a guiding light for us all as we strive to be better individuals and members of the St Mary's School community.
I would like to thank all the teachers and staff, especially Mrs Rachael Croker, our Religious Education Coordinator, who made this celebration possible.
#ST MARY'S REPRESENTS
This week Jaydan Costello and Henry Galland have both been competing at the NSWPSSA Golf Tournament in the Hunter Valley. A detailed report from these boys will be included next week in my email update.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I can share with you news just in as we were completing this edition- Jaydan Costello has been successful in being named in the NSW State Team to compete in November. Congratulation Jaydan!!!
CWA
Today I was presented with a cheque from Susan Reynolds on behalf of the CWA Crookwell Day Branch. Every year they donate 100% of their fundraising to the three local schools. This money is to be used for students and families in need of support with extracurricular activities such as excursions, etc. We are extremely grateful for the community support and thank the CWA Day Branch for this kind and generous donation.
Last week many St Mary's students were invited to the CWA Rooms for afternoon tea and a presentation of the winners, runners-up and highly commended for the CWA projects. We were very proud that so many St Mary's students took part this year and supported the CWA with an entry in the Agricultural/Environmental category and the Country Study. Announced on the day were our representatives who will now have their entries sent off to compete at State level.
CONGRATULATIONS to Emmett McIntosh, Joe MCormack, Bridie McCormack and Gabriella McDonald.

Addition to the Girls' Uniform
We have an exciting addition to the girls' summer uniform choices, with the addition of a white short sleeve shirt to be worn with bottle green shorts, and white socks.
There will be limited numbers available to start with so we do not have to carry too much excess stock. If you are interested in purchasing, please put the order through on Qkr. Shorts can be distributed straight away, however there will be a delay with the shirts as they are currently in production.
Further information about the St Mary's Uniform Policy, can be found here:
New Prices
To assist families where we can, we have not increased our uniform prices for around 7 years and have mostly absorbed any increases. Unfortunately, the time has come for us to increase the prices slightly to ensure we cover costs. This will be reflected on Qkr next time you visit.
Thank you for your understanding of this.
Lost items, second-hand items and a reminder to name
A kind reminder to please check the uniform items that come home with your child each day. Occasionally items get taken off and accidentally picked up and taken home to another family. We have a few students who are missing jumpers which are named. If you can please check and return anything that has come home accidentally.
Our lost property pile has grown into a mountain again, so please feel free to come and check for any missing items.
The second-hand items are also full to the brim. Remember these items are all FREE! So why not drop in and browse through these.
A kind reminder for those who do not have a current periodical payment in place for your school fees, to ensure they are up to date by the end of Term.
If you would like to check your current balance, you can do this via the Compass app. Select "More" on the bottom right of the screen, and in the bottom centre you will find the tab "School Fees". Here you can see your current balance and you are also able to check out your debit/credit history.
If you have any questions regarding your school fee account, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office.

Mary’s Birthday
Thank you to our school community who joined in our wonderful festivities to celebrate the birthday of Mary, mother of Jesus. The day commenced with a beautiful mass performed by Father Xavier. Students then spent the remainder of the day enjoying many Mary-themed activities:
- Rosary bead bracelet making
- Mary bookmarks
- Mary biscuits
- Mary art and craft
Thank you to our amazing staff who assisted in running groups and ensuring the day was a great success.
SRC Updates
Our SRC has been very busy over the past few weeks, taking on the role of environmental warriors and creating many different projects to create a more sustainable environment at St Mary’s.
The SRC has created a beautiful worm farm using two Subpods. Each morning our SRC collect our scraps from fruit break, deposit this into the subpods to fuel our worms. We cannot wait to watch our worm numbers grow over the next few weeks.
The Great Spring Clean Up
The next project for our SRC is the organisation of the Great Spring Clean Up on Friday 20 September. Our entire school community will work together to garden, tidy and give a well-deserved spruce up to our gardens and playground areas. Students will need to pack gloves and a bag to assist on the day.
NSWPSSA Golf Championships
This week we have Jaydan Costello and Henry Galland who are representing MacKillop at the NSWPSSA Golf Championships held in the Hunter Valley.
Making it extra special, it is their third year of representing the MacKillop team at the state championships. We look forward to hearing their results.
MacKillop Cricket Trials
Henry Galland, Year 6, travelled to Wagga for 2 days last week as a member of the Canberra Goulburn team to trial for the MacKillop Cricket Team. Henry was selected in the MacKillop team and will now play at the NSWPSSA Championships at Armidale in October.
