Hume Conservatorium Scholarships are Now Open
Hume Conservatorium offers annual scholarships to young musicians in the local community. The program is open to any musician regardless of whether they are students of Hume Conservatorium at the time of audition or not. It is the policy of Hume Conservatorium that scholarships will be awarded to the students who, in the view of the conservatorium, are likely to benefit most from the scholarship grant. The quality of performance on the day of the audition is a major factor in this decision, but not the sole factor. All styles of music are acceptable when applying for a scholarship.
Hume Conservatorium is very fortunate to have several local and regional organisations and individuals who support our Annual Scholarship Program. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage and accelerate the musical development of students with potential, equipping them for further study at an advanced level.
Hume Conservatorium will invite members of our Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums network to act as adjudicators for our scholarship program in order to maintain fairness and transparency in the process. The CEO of Hume Conservatorium will have the final sign-off in the allocation of all scholarship funds.
Upon receipt of a scholarship, winners are required to have lessons with the most appropriate Hume Conservatorium tutor as decided by the CEO. Scholarship winners are encouraged to write a letter of thanks to their sponsor (if appropriate) and to send a report of their activities at the completion of their scholarship year.
To apply for a Scholarship please fill out the online form. https://humecon.nsw.edu.au/scholarships/

November- Month of the Holy Souls
In the tradition of the Catholic Church, the month of November is set aside for the remembrance of All Souls. We pray for our loved ones who have preceded us in life that they may be at peace in heaven with God. During November we will continue to pray for our loved ones who have passed away. If there are people you would like us to pray for please write their names on a piece of paper or card and we will place them in the prayer space in our classrooms.

NSWPSSA CRICKET
The Girls PSSA Cricket scheduled for the week of 24 October in Barooga was cancelled due to wet weather and flooding. In place of that the girls were invited to Cricket NSW in Sydney to trial for a spot in the Girls NSW Team. Sophia attended with over 100 Years 5 and 6 girls representing 13 school associations. Cricket NSW's Head of Female Cricket, Leah Poulton, as well as current Sydney Thunder and NSW Womens's team stars Hannah Darlington and Tahlia Wilson, addressed the next generation of female cricketing talent, detailing their personal cricket journeys.
Two days of trials culminated in a final small group of 16 girls, one of which was Sophia. Unfortunately she narrowly missed out and was not selected in the final 12.
We have no doubt that Sophia is an all round Sport Star in the making and wish her continued sporting success and satisfaction through High School.

Running for Premature Babies- "Premmie Marathon Challenge"
Current kindy parents, Amber and Stuart are taking on the Premmie Marathon Challenge for the charity "Running for Premature Babies", the charity which helped their baby boy survive.
Nix (who starts Kindy at St Mary's next year and joins his brother Hendrix here) was born nine weeks early on the 17th November 2017, coinciding with Annual World Prematurity Day. Nix spent his first days at newborn intensive care unit at royal Women's Hospital, Randwick, with the aid of equipment that was funded by the Running for Premature Babies Foundation. Without the aid of this equipment, he may not have survived.
This year, Stuart is going to celebrate all that Nix has overcome, and to raise more needed funds for premature babies, he will run from their home in Laggan to Goulburn and as far back as he can physically and mentally handle. His goal is to raise $10,000.00 for a charity that has given their family so much.
