End of Year Events
End of Year School Mass and Leadership Changeover Ceremony
Our Year Five students are currently preparing to present themselves to our student body as possible School Captains for 2022. The students will present their speeches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 9, with the voting to occur on Wednesday afternoon, 1 December. As is the long-held tradition, the Captains are student-elected, staff do not vote.
The 2022 Captains will be announced at our End of Year School Mass and Changeover Ceremony held on Thursday 9 December at 12pm. As the church can now have people with 2sqm allocation, parents and carers are able to attend, if they desire.
Please note the badges will be blessed and presented at our 2022 Welcome and Leaders Induction Mass at the beginning of Term One on Thursday 10 February (TBC).
Year Six Farewell
This year our Year Six end of year Graduation events will occur on Monday 13 December. The format will be as follows:
5.30pm - Graduation Mass at St Mary's Church
6.30pm - Dinner at the Services Club for students, parents/carers/adult guests and staff
- Year Six Awards Presentation
- Year Six Final Assembly
The Year Six class will present their Final Assembly on the last day of school, Wednesday 15 December. The recipients of Awards will also be acknowledged at this Assembly. Further details about this will be confirmed when I have the updated relevant restriction information.
School Fees 2022
Careful consideration has been taken in reviewing the fees for 2022 to continue to support our school’s requirements while keeping increases manageable and fair for families in the current economic environment.
I can now advise you that in 2022, our fee for a single student will be $573 per term.
Our fee combines Tuition and School levies and will help to keep pace with rising salaries and costs to ensure our school continues to deliver the quality education for our students that you would expect.
The School Board has approved the following fee structure for 2022.
Family per term CEO fee (Paid by us to the Office in Canberra) |
$ 340.00 |
Family per term CEO fee-if older child/ren attend Trinity |
$ 170.00 |
Family per term- Student Utilities/Maintenance Levy |
$ 138.00 |
Family per term – Building Levy |
$ 31.00 |
Student per term- IT Levy |
$ 32.00 |
Student per term – Student Resource Levy |
$ 32.00 |
Your consistent approach to fee-paying is very much appreciated and ensures your children always have access to the best educational resources and learning environment possible.
As always, if fees create financial concern for you, I would encourage you to make an appointment with me to discuss how we can help. It is a policy in the Archdiocese that no student should be refused enrolment, excluded or disadvantaged because their family is unable to afford fees. Any discussion on fees would be strictly confidential. If you have any questions regarding school fees for 2022, please feel free to contact me.
Kindergarten, Year One and Year Two presented their virtual Showcase of Learning Assembly using the digital platform MS TEAMS. Unable to host a live performance or assembly with audiences, our students still performed and were videoed by staff to allow families the opportunity to enjoy the diverse talents of our students.
What an amazing performance showcasing incredible talent with our students dancing, presenting and acting. Congratulations and thank you Mrs. Sally-Anne Croker, Mrs. Branson, Mrs. Cummins and Mrs. McCormack.
Orientation
We have one full day orientation left for our 2022 Kindergarten starters. Next Monday, 22 November, our new students will spend another day becoming familiar with school life at St Mary's with the help of their Year 5 friends (Year 6 2022 Buddies). We ask that parents and carers follow the same procedures as the previous two orientation days, please.

A special mention to Elders and the Culley, Tarlinton, B McIntosh, J McCormack, Frost, Lowe, K Croker, Price, Bain, Elsley-Mattox, A McCormack, J Fraser, Grove, R Fraser and Scott families for their generous donations.
Thank you also to Catherine Culley for her coordination of this event.

The Feast of Christ the King
Next Sunday is the last Sunday of the Church calendar year. On this Sunday the Church celebrates the Feast of Christ the King, also called the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. This feast was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925. He declared a ‘holy year’ in which the kingdom of God was present in the hearts of Christians all over the world.
In the Gospel reading, we hear about Jesus being summoned before Pontius Pilot before he was sentenced to death. The Jews were not allowed to sentence people to death so they asked Pilot to sentence Jesus. Pilot asks Jesus "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus answers him "My kingdom is not from this world”. Then he says "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."
Jesus said His kingdom is about TRUTH which is “justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”. Jesus’ kingship is not one of executive or coercive power. It is to open people’s eyes to the real meaning of life, of their existence and that of the world in which they live. Throughout the history of Christianity, wherever we see people working to maintain peace, care for the poor, fight injustice, and gather in worship, we see the TRUTH, the power of Christ reigning in the hearts and minds of humankind. Have you noticed how joy-filled these people who have found the TRUTH of Jesus are? Jesus also said, “the TRUTH will set you free”… No one is freer, more joyful and more at peace than the one who lets Jesus reign in their hearts and who accepts that truth as the Way to a full Life.
As Christians, we are called to open our hearts and minds to Jesus’ truth and let Jesus reign in our hearts so we can bring God’s Kingdom to earth right here right now.
Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Jesus Christ,
I know you are the King of all creation;
all that I have comes from you.
All I can offer you in return is to promise to work to the best of my ability and to try to live a good Christian life.
Bring all people into your holy kingdom,
so that your peace and glory reigns
throughout the whole universe.
Amen

National Bush 2 Beach Water Safety Week
During week 9 we will be taking part in the National Bush 2 Beach Water Safety Week.
Students will take part in the National Water Safety Day, raising awareness of the importance of water safety at the beach, in dams, rivers and creeks, on the farm and around their homes.
This is a week of activities for our students including zoom meetings with lifeguards, competitions and culminating with a red and yellow mufti day on Friday 1 December.
One of the competitions we can enter had the prize of an ICE CREAM TRUCK FOR THE SCHOOL FOR AN ENTIRE DAY!!!! For this we will be creating a video that needs to show aspects of the bush and rural environment, bringing it together in a creative way.
We would like to transform the front of the school into a ‘beach escape’, using this as part of our video. To create this, we are asking for families to perhaps ‘lend’ for the week any of the following items:
- beach chairs
- boogie boards
- blow up floating pool toys
- beach towels
- umbrellas
- basically, any items that represent the beach
Any items can be passed on to Mrs Rachael Croker during Week 8 and will be taken great care of.
Thank you in advance.

Please ensure this is returned by Thursday 25 November.
Participating families will receive a certificate.
Performing Arts with Mrs. McCormack
This term in Performing Arts we have been starting our lessons with music. As we can’t sing or chant due to Covid restrictions, we have been listening to a different song each week and learning to apply concepts such as pitch, tone and tempo to describe the music. We have listened to a wide variety of genres including folk and classical.
We then progress to dance where our focus has been on Rhythmic Gymnastics. Students in Years 3-6 have been learning basic positions such as straddles, pikes and tucks and how to incorporate these into dance using chosen apparatus.
I have uploaded onto Microsoft Teams in your child’s Performing Arts channel some videos of them presenting their dances. All of Years 3 and 4 are uploaded and some of Years 5 and 6 with the balance to be uploaded next week.
I encourage you to ask your child about what they have been doing in Performing Arts and to watch their performances. I am very impressed by what they have learnt in such a short period of time and how enthusiastic they are!
There is a growing pile of lost property, including school jumpers, sports jackets and lunch box containers, all without names. If you are missing items and can identify, please collect from the Office.
To ensure we are able to enable the speedy return of items, please name clothing and containers.
During these months of season transition, the children take their jumpers and jackets off more frequently, so please try to check items brought home regularly to ensure they belong to you.
Thank you for your assistance with this.
