Year 3 Scientists
Our budding Year 3 scientists took over Mrs Croker's role as classroom teacher yesterday afternoon. The boys had been conducting a scientific investigation on the playground during their play breaks and were quite amazed by what they had found.
Flynn, Owen and Spencer were very intrigued when they found large amounts of sap on a tree. They investigated the sap and found that some parts were rock hard, and other parts were gooey and sticky. Owen taught the class that sap is like the blood of a tree. Grace very kindly shared her microscope with the boys and they were able to remove some sap and investigate it further under the microscope. Here was where it got cool, the boys found living organisms in the sap and were able to see the movements of these living creatures. The boys shared their findings with the class during 'their own' science lesson, and their classmates were blown away when they too could see the organisms moving too. What great discussions this led to in our classroom. This is what learning is all about.
