Mufti Day

Thank you for your support with our Favourite Sport or Sporting Team Mufti Day. The students raised $200 which was very gratefully received by Isabelle and Bella. I think Mrs Skelly won best dressed with her rendition of Canberra Raiders player Charnze Nicoll-Klokstaf with knee injury, ponytail and all!

Public Speaking

Five students out of each of our primary classes presented their speeches to the school community yesterday at our 2019 Public Speaking Competition. Staff adjudicated these speeches and selected two from each grade to represent St Mary's at the Northern Region Public Speaking Competition. The speeches were all well written and expressively delivered, making the selection process particularly difficult this year.

Congratulations to the following students:

Year 3 – Sophia Galland and Peter Lawson

Year 4 – Lucy Gamble and Seth Grove

Year 5 – Sienna Charnock and Alec McIntosh

Year 6 – Bella Croker and Paige Croker

Next Wednesday the Northern Region Public Speaking Competition will commence here at St Mary's with morning tea at 10am, followed by the competition at 10.30am for Years 3 and 5 and 11.15am for Years 4 and 6.

Year 5 and Year 6 will present their speeches in the Old Hall adjudicated by Anne Cleary and Lauren Shinfield.

Year 3 and Year 4 will present their speeches in the Library adjudicated by Patrice Rowe and Alexandra Dunwoodie.

The Archdiocesan Public Speaking Competition will be held on 20 September at St Joseph's in Boorowa.

If you are about to assist our Year 5 parents with preparing and serving morning tea please contact Belinda.

St Mary's Feast Day - Feast of the Assumption

Next Thursday 15 August is the Feast of the Assumption and our St Mary's Primary School Feast Day. On this day students may come to school wearing blue, a traditional colour associated with Mary.

The day will start with Mass at 9.30am and be followed by an early morning tea. During the middle session, the children will participate in some creative mixed age 'Mary' activities.
