Principal Talk with Mrs. Sally-Anne Croker

School Cross Country Carnival

Thank you to Miss Annie Croker and Mr James Edwards, our Sports Coordinators, for organising such a fantastic Cross Country Carnival last Friday. It was a wonderful event showcasing our students' talent and determination.

I would also like to thank the staff for their assistance and for preparing the students for this event.

To all of our students who participated in the event, your enthusiastic involvement and encouragement of your peers was a true testament to the sense of community and support that exists here at our school.

As testament to that we received an email from a parent after our Cross Country included below. We always appreciate the support we get from our school community.

"I just wanted to congratulate you and the staff at St Mary’s on the amazing positive culture of the school. It was so evident on Friday at the cross country with all the children keen to participate and do their best no matter their natural ability. Thanks for all you and your staff do for our children. We are certainly very lucky to have such an amazing school in Crookwell."

Year 4 & 5 Showcase of Learning and Awards Assembly

Join us tomorrow for our Year 4 and Year 5 Showcase of Learning at 12:30pm.

Our final Award Assembly will be tomorrow at 9:05am. At this assembly we will present the first, second and third placegetters with their ribbons, hand out the packages for the six representatives per age group as well as recognising and awarding the Age Champions.

Please join us.

FAREWELL

Next week we sadly farewell two families from our St Mary's School Community. Ross, Sammy, Ruby, Evelyn and Alfie are relocating to sunny Queensland. Simon, Jackie, Liam and Hanna are also leaving and moving to Queanbeyan. We wish both families success with their moves, their new lives and new schools. Please stay in touch.

YEAR SIX CAMP

Next week Year Six head off to Narrabeen Dept of Sport and Rec for their Camp. Accompanying them will be Mrs Rachael Croker and myself. We have been extremely fortunate enough to have our transport supplied free of charge this year by Trinity Catholic College. Our small group fit nicely into their mini bus and trailer. St Mary's are grateful for the support and generous offer from Mrs McManus. Parents have been contacted this week with details of where to meet the bus once we are able to pick it up. If you are in need of support for this please contact Mrs Croker or myself to arrange a lift.

In my absence Mrs Skelly will be your point of contact.

ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day falls at the end of the holidays on Friday, 25 April. We invite all students to participate in the ANZAC Day events.

St Mary's students are invited to march and lay wreaths at this year's Crookwell, Grabben Gullen and Taralga ANZAC Day services.

Students participating in the Grabben Gullen event are to assemble at 9:00am within the grounds of the Grabben Gullen Community Hall. If you are available to represent at Grabben Gullen please contact the Front Office before the end of Term.

Students participating in the Crookwell events are asked to assemble for the March in the RSL car park from 10.40am. The March will move down Goulburn Street to the Memorial Park for the ANZAC Day Commemoration Ceremony. Students remain assembled until this Ceremony concludes.

Our students who wish to participate in the Taralga March and Commemorative Service are asked to assemble at the northern end of the main street, near Taralga Public School at 2.30pm. The children will march down the street to the Cenotaph for the Commemorative Service and wreath-laying. After this, our assembled group will disperse before the Memorial Hall program.

Students are required to come dressed in their full winter uniform.

Seeing many of our students at these special ceremonies would be wonderful.

CONGRATULATIONS

Four of our senior boys travelled to Canberra this week to trial for a spot in the Canberra Goulburn League teams.

Riley and Jacob (U12) were named in possible/probables as were Rory and Jesse (U11). At the conclusion of the day all four boys were named as members of their respective teams and will now play as a member of their CG team on May 9 hoping to be selected as a member of the Mackillop team.

Uniform Matters

As the term draws to close, uniform pieces accidentally get mixed up between students. Please check all your uniform items at home to ensure they belong to your family. Please ensure you have all your children's uniform items labelled.

Next term, the students are to wear their full winter uniform; however, a two-week leeway is given if the weather is still warm enough for the summer uniform.

In preparation for the cooler months, you might order our school coat, a warm bottle green parka-style coat, from our Uniform Shop. No other coats will be permitted. Bottle green gloves and beanies may be purchased elsewhere.

Some other reminders about our school uniform- hair accessories must be in the school colours only, earrings must be sleepers and studs and no nail polish is to be worn to school.
