We hope you have a wonderful transition to the warmer weather and your new school.

Next Friday, the students will participate in a Japanese Cultural activity day organised by Mrs Rie O'Brien.
In mixed grade groups, our students will cook rice balls and yakitori, practise shuji calligraphy, listen to Japanese folktale stories, do Manga drawing, create Hokusai art, and make origami lanterns and fans.

We would like to invite you to join us on Friday 11 November for our 2022 Australiana-themed Grandparents and Special Friends Day.
The day will commence with Mass at 9.15am in St Mary's Catholic Church. If you would like to sit with your child/grandchild in the Church please collect them from their classroom at 9.00am.
Following Mass, morning tea will be served by our Parents and Friends Association in our Multi-purpose Hall. We request that all families send in a plate of food to share, please.
At 10.50am we will move into our Hall for our Remembrance Day Ceremony and Australiana-themed performance.
After the presentation, you are welcome to have a walk through the school buildings to view our recent developments.
Archdiocesan Public Speaking Competition
A huge congratulations to Chloe and Toby for their participation in the Archdiocesan Public Speaking yesterday. Both Toby and Chloe presented beautifully to the adjudicators, students and teachers from the Southern and Western Regions.
The competition was tough and, although neither Toby nor Chloe won an award, they both did us proud!

Chromebooks for Year 4
Year 4 are very excited to be the recipients of a set of brand new chromebooks for use in their classroom. Each child is allocated a device which will go with them throughout their schooling here at St Mary's.
Baby News
A huge congratulations to Mrs Spackman who is now a grandmother. Her son Andrew and his partner welcomed Benjamin Max into the world on Wednesday 26 October.
Hume Conservatorium Scholarships are Now Open
Hume Conservatorium offers annual scholarships to young musicians in the local community. The program is open to any musician regardless of whether they are students of Hume Conservatorium at the time of audition or not. It is the policy of Hume Conservatorium that scholarships will be awarded to the students who, in the view of the conservatorium, are likely to benefit most from the scholarship grant. The quality of performance on the day of the audition is a major factor in this decision, but not the sole factor. All styles of music are acceptable when applying for a scholarship.
Hume Conservatorium is very fortunate to have several local and regional organisations and individuals who support our Annual Scholarship Program. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage and accelerate the musical development of students with potential, equipping them for further study at an advanced level.
Hume Conservatorium will invite members of our Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums network to act as adjudicators for our scholarship program in order to maintain fairness and transparency in the process. The CEO of Hume Conservatorium will have the final sign-off in the allocation of all scholarship funds.
Upon receipt of a scholarship, winners are required to have lessons with the most appropriate Hume Conservatorium tutor as decided by the CEO. Scholarship winners are encouraged to write a letter of thanks to their sponsor (if appropriate) and to send a report of their activities at the completion of their scholarship year.
